In 1995/96 the second placed Auckland Centra-AVD Team could not get cars mobile for the final and lost by default. The Stratford Gladiators volunteered to race the Auckland All-Stars in an exhibition final. The Gladiators won the race.

The 1997/98 show was a one-nighter due to rain on the first night.

The 2002/03 the Rotorua Rebels won the final only to have the result overturned by officials. Race winner Mark Osborne was relegated for a pass on the grass.

The Auckland Assassins team in 2003/04 was in reality a North Island Select team featuring Barry Hunter, Darcy Hunter, Murray Long, Pat Westbury and Warwick Ansty.

The 2011/12 final was won by the Palmerston North Panthers only to have the result overturned by officials. Race winner Shane Penn was relegated for passing on the grass.
